RECAPS REACHES ALL NINE ISLANDS OF THE AZORES

RECAPS – the Coffee Capsule Collection and Recycling Association – has officially extended its operations to all nine islands of the Azores archipelago.

With the signing of the membership protocol by the 19 municipalities of the Azores, the project is now present in 42 municipalities, covering over 26% of the Portuguese population. RECAPS is the first national initiative dedicated to the collection and recycling of coffee capsules, resulting from the collaboration of 14 brands, including Bogani from NewCoffee.

Since the project's launch, 531 tons of capsules have been collected and sent through recovery and recycling processes, promoting a circular economy.

The Azores' participation highlights the commitment of both municipalities and coffee brands to sustainability and marks an important milestone in the project's expansion. The goal is to bring recycling directly to the doorsteps of all coffee capsule consumers in Portugal.

Consumers continue to play an active role in the process by depositing used capsules at over 200 collection points across the country.
